Family Life 150 years Ago

Step into living Australian history with a guided tour through the private home of the Hume family, collateral descendants of explorer Hamilton Hume. Hear the stories of its time as a coaching inn, colonial boarding school and Victorian home as your tour takes you through rooms filled with original furnishings and countless historical items. See display settings of some of the homesteads rare original china in use 150 years ago and Victorian dresses worn by the occupants at the time.  Sit in the original school room where Impressionist painter JP Russell, General Sir Harry Chauvel and other famous Australians received their early education, see the colonial brick-lined well with its magnificent iron hand pump still working and wander in the extensive gardens. Garroorigang is truly living history for young and old.
